As Heart of the City Foundation board members, we recognize the ministries we support are not only close to our hearts, they are close to yours. For this reason, HOCF gives you the opportunity to choose how and what you want to give and also where you want to invest.
Donations can be made in the form of cash, check, appreciated assets, stocks, CDs or real estate, as well as through a will or trust. We have also created four opportunities through which donors can give: The Scholarship Fund, Facility Fund, Missions Capital Fund and Seed Fund. You can donate to an existing scholarship or create a new scholarship of your own, with specific and unique requirements. If you’d rather give a general contribution, you can empower the board to decide how to manage and distribute your gift. The options to give are as endless as the kindness and vision of those who have contributed over the past 29 years. Each of these funds coincides with our mission to facilitate, encourage, support, and provide resources to help fulfill God's desire for us to make the invisible Kingdom visible.
Scholarship Fund
A means of providing financial and spiritual support for students, HOCF scholarships offer recipients much more than a check. Every spring, HOCF awards annual scholarships and recently launched a program to keep in touch with the young scholars through letters, small gifts, birthday cards, and gatherings featuring gifted speakers. Our goal is to encourage spiritual and intellectual growth and to help next generation leaders become lifelong learners.
Facility Fund
Currently, nearly 30 percent of FPCO's annual church budget is spent on its facility. HOCF is working to decrease this percentage by providing financial relief so that more funds may be invested in outreach programs and missions. This goal could not be accomplished without the help of many caring families who have made lifelong financial contributions to this fund, through endowments created under their family's name. It’s been a great opportunity for families to establish a living legacy as faithful stewards.
Missions Capital Fund
Whether utilized to help construct a basketball court in Parramore or dig wells in Africa, this fund exists to make grants for capital improvement projects for missions. Over the next three years, HOCF's goal is to raise $2 million to annually provide two $50,000 grants to both a domestic and an international capital or building grant for mission partners.
Seed Fund
It's important to invest in creative initiatives and innovative start-up projects to further God's Kingdom and to respond to short-term opportunities, illustrated by the life and story of CJ Bellamy. An exemplary student, athlete and respected young man, CJ's life was turned upside down after he was paralyzed as a result of a drive-by shooting. This fund (initiated by FPCO members) contributed to the remodeling of the Bellamy home, making it handicap-accessible and allowing CJ the opportunity to be independent in his everyday life. We want to continue to make dreams a reality and incubate innovative outreach.
