The HOCF scholarship committee meets in April to review all applications and notifies each student of his / her scholarship status by May.
Types of Scholarships
Heart of the City Foundation awards undergraduate, graduate, and seminary scholarships. Each scholarship fund holds its own criteria. Please refer to the Scholarship Opportunities worksheet for complete details.
A score from the SAT or ACT tests is required for all graduating seniors. Superscores from the SAT are accepted, however, like is the practice of many colleges and similar scholarship programs, HOCF does NOT accept ACT Superscores. Graduating seniors must provide proof of their score(s) by uploading a PDF file with their application.
Test scores are not required for current undergraduate or graduate students.
All students must provide a transcript from their current high school or college as a PDF file uploaded with the application. More than one transcript may be uploaded by transfer, dual enrollment, graduate, etc., students. Transcripts may not be mailed, emailed, or delivered for consideration.
Church Membership Status
All students are welcomed to apply for HOCF scholarships. Preference is given to current members of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando (FPCO) and some scholarship funds do require membership at FPCO.
All scholarship recipients are asked to attend Scholarship Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Scholarship recipients will receive notification of their award prior to this event.
Scholarship Fund Disbursement
All scholarship funds are released directly to colleges in June. Students must provide HOCF proper disbursement details on a form provided by HOCF.
Scholarship awards vary each year based on the number of recipients. Each scholarship is a minimum $1,000 award.
Students are evaluated each year. Past awards or declines do not impact scholarship awards for the current year. A new application is required each year.
